Overview

Day 1Cusco – Mollepata – Challacancha – Soraypampa – Salkantay pampa.

Pickup from your hotel at 4:00 am.
Private transportations to trail head about 2 hours in a half to Mollepata village, here we will have a chance to have a breakfast in a local restaurant.
And then half hour more driving to the start point of our trek named Challacancha the start point of our hike.
Weather, to be honest is always changing from hot in the morning and cold in the afternoon and very cold at night sometimes can rain, snow, hail and even in the dry season.
Explore the most beautiful lake of Humantay.
Camping spot called Salkantay pampa.
Walking Distance in first day – 15 km / 9 miles.
Elevation changes in the hike since: Cusco 3335 m = 10941 ft. to Challacancha 3715 m = 12188 ft.
Campsite Elevation – Salkantay pampa 4100 m = 13451 ft.
Considered: Acclimatization easy day.

Day 2Salkantay Pampa – Inca Chiriaska Pass – Inca Canal

Hiking Challenger day but breathtaking views in the entire trip.
Walking Distance – 16 km = 10 mi.
Starting Elevation – since 4100 m = 13451 ft.
Highest Elevation – Incachiriasca(4850 m / 15908 ft.)
Campsite Elevation – Canal Inca 3,750 m. / 12,303 ft.
Considered: Moderate one of the most beautiful day, we can see the Salkantay magnificent glacier mountain.

Day 3Inca Canal – Paucarcancha – Ayapata

Trekking in to the kind of Rocky Mountains and glaciers surrounded.

Walking Distance – 13 km / 8 miles easy go down around the Salcantay River.
Starting Elevation Canal Inca 3,750 m. / 12,303 ft.
Lowest elevation – wayllabamba 300 m. / 9842 ft.
Campsite Elevation – Ayapata 3300 m = 10826 ft.
Considered: moderate day mostly downhill.
Today we will say good bye to the horseman and horses because after lunch we will get the official Inca Trail and we will continue with porters from today.
Look out we provided you Breakfast, lunch, dinner, hot drinks at campsite, boiled water for drink and snacks are included.
The Area: Cloud Forest usually very warm weather.

Day 4Ayapata – warmi wañusca – Chaquickocha.

Another challenger day to survive the two highest mountains, breathtaking views.
Hike distance: 16 km = 9 mi. Up and Down over Stone paved stairs
Altitude changes since: Ayapata 3300 m to 4215 m highest point.
Campsite Elevation –Chaquikcocha 3600 m. = 11811 ft.
Considered: long day up and down stone paved trail.
We will have chance to visit two Inca sites Runcuraccay (egg shape ruins) and Sayacmarca.
Weather to be honest is always changing from hot during the day to cold at night and rain any moment even in the dry season.

Day 5 Chaquikocha – Wiñayhuayna.

Today we have easy walk.
We have chance to visit, 3 not too famous but beautiful Inca sites, Phuyupatamarca (village above the clouds), Intipata (terraces of the sun), Wiñayhuayna (forever young)
Our hike distance now is more down: 10 km.
Today altitude changes: Chaquikcocha 3600 m. = 11811 ft.
Camping site altitude: Wiñayhuayna 2666 m = 8746 ft.
This day will no doubt provide you with memories that you will never forget because is more explorations and less walk.

Day 6Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco.

Walk distance: Walking distance: 5 km / 3 miles
Very early in the morning wake up our last control point is open since 5: 30 am, and starts walk to (Inti Punku) the “Sun Gate” to have the first view of Machu Picchu.
We will have a Guided tour with very good explanations of our tour guide in Machu Picchu.
We can climb the extra mountain Huayna Picchu Mountain (if we booked it in advance).
After everything we can get to Aguas Calientes city for lunch by walk or bus.
We have to take the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo train stations.

PERMITS FOR INCA TRAIL

according the regulations of Inca trail by Peruvian government are allow only 500 trekking permits per day and everyone need to purchase a permits including tour guides, cooks and porters. Are only about 200 travelers approximately having access to the Inca trail per day the rest of spaces are for the company’s crew (guides, cooks and porters) That´s why, we recommend you to book in several months in advance to secure your place.

Once we purchase all the permits from the national ministry of culture you are 100% confirmed to start the trip this day, cannot be changed or transferable to others.

Inca trail permits are not complete nonrefundable or transferable, so you have to make sure the date you´ll book and as soon as we´ll purchase the Inca trail permits we will send you a confirmation with all permits added

If you change your passport after booking your permit or you are planning to travel with other passport, you HAVE to bring the passport you used to book your permit, in other way you´ll not be able to have access in to the Inca trail.

STUDENTS

If you are student you have an especial discount. That’s why you have to use your International Student Identity Card green (ISIC) you must have this card and make sure the expiration date must be more over time that we´ll do the trip, if you don´t bring with you will not allow to enter into the Inca trail. That´s the rules of ministry of Machu Picchu have.

HUAYNA PICCHU MOUNTAIN

Are allowing only 400 people to climb this mountain per day, so it needs to be booked in advanced and the price is S$80 per person we recommend you do in the second time between 10-11 am, minimum have to book two months in advance based on availability.

MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN

Are allowing only 400 people to climb this mountain per day, it needs to booked in advance, the price is S$80 per person it is located in from of Huayana Picchu mountain but is more higher takes about the 1:20 minutes to climb this mountain between 7-11 am.

EXTRA NIGHT IN AGUAS CALIENTES CITY

If you want to stay longer and going back to Machu Picchu to explore more or climb one the famous mountain surrounded, you have to buy a new entrance fee or we can do too for S$80, than you can book an extra night at Aguas Calientes town. We can organize your accommodations in hostel for S$30 or hotel if you prefer but price depend the type of hotel you choose more information contact us. And if you want to book by yourself you can do too. Just let us know that you are planning to stay an extra night so we organize your return train for the next day.

RETURN TRAIN TO CUSCO

The return train is going to be the Expedition service train, which departs at 6.25 pm. Always Based on Peru Rail availability and will be confirmed at your briefing. There is an option to upgrade Vistadome train service with large windows which is an extra S$60 per person. Please let us know your preference at the time of booking. Train services are only between Aguas Calientes city to Ollantaytambo train stations and then bus to Cusco and drop you off in your hotel.

FOOD ON THE TREK

all our meals are a kind of buffet. It is always fresh and most of it is organic. We are used to eat together and we go out of our way to accommodate all dietary requirements including vegetarian options, began and any food allergies. We do not provide any alcoholic drinks on the trek but if you would like you can bring on your own.

OUR EQUIPMENT

all the equipment is the first quality; we provide 4 man tents for only 2 hiker and TERM-A-REST self-inflating air sleeping mattresses no extra fee!!! For everyone, our equipment includes a spacious dining tent, tables and chairs, plates and utensils. We do NOT supply sleeping bags, walking sticks, but all can be rented from us the moment you are booking or in your pre-meeting briefing.

Very important note if you are over 1.95 meters / 6´4″ tall then you won´t be able to rent a sleeping bag in Cusco. In this case it is recommended to bring your own.

OUR GUIDES, COOK AND PORTERS

all our local tour guides speak English, Spanish and Quechua is a local language, is because more of names on the Inca trail and Cusco is in this language that is the reason is very important to know, our cooks provide amazing family style food a nice kind of buffet for all our team, our porters will carry everything for you which makes your trek as easy and comfortable as possible, equipment, all the product for cook, tents. All of them are amazing, helpful, patient, very informative, caring and great persons, if you like give thanks to them you can do with some tips.

We never overload our porters that’s why we make sure that all our team are well looked after and we provide all the equipment that they need, we treated like our family so that they feel like in home as you too.

FITNESS

Many people worry about altitude sickness because on the day two we have to crossing two highest mountains and worry if we can be able to do it with a regular life? To be hones we had people of all ages (from teenagers to pensioners) and age itself is no barrier if you are positive minded and lives an active lifestyle. Before departing for your tour, we recommend visiting your doctor who will be able to provide you with more information about.

The Inca Trail is certainly not easy but you do not need to be an athlete or a trekking expert to complete it. Fitness is naturally important but the Inca Trail is one of the most beautiful hikes in the world, is also a kind of trek that anyone with a positive attitude and determination can do. If you want to enjoy the entire Inca trail, we recommend you to training couple months to come here and you will see how easy it is.

STORAGE DURING YOUR TREK

During you doing the Inca Trail trek your main luggage will be stored in Cusco. We recommend you to leave at same hotel booked in Cusco if you will back after the hike to same hotel they usually have a good lookers because we’ll provide you a small duffle bag at your Inca Trail briefing (pre-meeting briefing is normally set for the evening before you start the trek) to pack clothes for 3-4 days. Your team of porters will carry these bags together with the food and equipment for the trail. Please note that you will not have access to these items until the end of each day as the porters will always be behind and ahead of the group, therefore you must bring a small day pack in which you can carry personal belongings such as your rainy gear, camera, water and sun screen etc. By Peruvian law the duffle bag carried by the porters must not weigh more than 6kg (12pounds). If you will need an extra 6 kg duffel bag you can rent for S$75.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Mollepata – Challacancha – Soraypampa – Salkantay pampa.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 a.m. to drive for about 2 hours to Mollepata village. Here we’ll stop in a local restaurant and have breakfast, and then we’ll continue drive for half hour more to the start point of our Salkantay trek named Challancha. As soon as we get there we’ll find a horseman who is going to waiting for us, he and our cook they will pack all the camping equipment and cooking stuff, we will give them our duffel bags, they are going to take care of our extra staff and our everyday food, so we will start hiking together with our tour guide who will be responsible of hiking group, the first 1/2 hours i´ll be a little bit uphill to get Inca Canal where we will have a spectacular and brief taking lands escapes, from here is easy till lunch spot named Soraypampa (3800 m/11750 ft.); after enjoy a very delicious Peruvian food we will hike up to the beautiful snow- mountains Lake of (Humantay; 4120 m/13500 ft.)

After take a good rest in the Humantay lake we have to continue hike for 2 more hours till camping spot, we will walk dawn to close to the lunch spot and them continue walk up hill till Salkantay pampa here we will be very close to the highest Salkantay snow-capped mountain.

We use this day to get a good acclimation that is reason we try make a kind of easy day, and we are not put you directly to the highest pass like other companies do, like this you can be more prepared for the second day and cross easy the highest pass and we always camp in very exclusive places with less people to enjoy more the nature on the entire trip.

Day 2Salkantay Pampa – Inca Chiriaska Pass – Inca Canal.

After having our breakfast, we start walking early, because this day will be the longest but the most beautiful day crossing the Andes mountain ranges, our first 3 or 4 hours it´ll be uphill to get the highest point of the Trek Incachiriasca (4850 m / 15908 ft.) located between 2 hugest mountains; Salkantay on the left and once we get the top is even better landscapes of the glaciers, definitely spectacular views. There is always a possibility of snow, rain, hail here so we have to go always ready for everything.

After the little break and very nice explanations of our tour guide about the local traditions, religious, of local people, we will continue our walk (downhill) through a dramatic cloud forest towards named pampa about 2 hours later we will have a very good lunch. We´ll hike about 3 more hours again after delicious lunch in the direction of the valley to reach our second camping spot located close to the original Canal Inca.

2nd Day: Total distance: 16 km = 10 mi. (approx.)
Starting Elevation – since Salkantay Pampa 4100 m = 13451 ft.
Highest Elevation – Incachiriasca(4850 m / 15908 ft.)

Day 3Inca Canal – Paucarcancha – Ayapata

Today our hike is going to be easier finding some local people on the trail we will hike mostly downhill around the very narrow river very well canalized by the Incas, after 3 hours later we will reach a bigger town and very close to there our cook is going to making a very great lunch, because this is going to be the place where we will enjoy our last lunch with the horseman, but at the same time we will say welcome to other part of our team, the very famous Andean Porters, after enjoying a great lunch we will continue our hike in this time uphill into the king of tropical place, here is possible find more people because there are 500 hundreds of people hiking Inca Trail every day, so we will join with them couple hours later we will reach our official camping spot, this time into the famous Inca trail.

3rd Day: Total distance: 13 km / 8 miles easy go down around the Salcantay River.
Starting Elevation – Canal Inca 3,750 m. / 12,303 ft.
Lowest Elevation – wayllabamba 300 m. / 9842 ft.
Campsite Elevation – Ayapata 3300 m = 10826 ft.
Considered: Hiking Challenger day one of the most beautiful day, we can see the Salkantay magnificent glacier mountain.
The Area: valley, a kind of tropical place.
Weather: windy, but worm.
Today we will say good bye to the horseman and horses because after lunch we will get the official Inca Trail and we will continue with porters from today.

Day 4Ayapata – warmi wañusca – Chaquickocha.

This time Our porters will wake you up early with a hot cup of coca tea or coffee to enjoy everything since the beginning. We can say Today is our longest and challenger day, we will start with a delicious breakfast. We’ll walk to the highest pass for about 4 hours named Dead Woman’s Pass (4215 meters). As soon as we get the pass we’ll stop for a short break to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes, well now lest to descend in to next valley called (Pacaymayu Valley – Hidden River). It can be one more hour and a half down the side of the valley, here is our celebrations lunch after highest pass everything is a celebrations and a chance to refill our water bottles. After lunch we begin ascending again to the second pass, It’s 2 hours to the pass and between we’ll find a small Inca site named (Runcu Raccay) and see two huge waterfalls cascading down the opposite side of the valley at the same time is possible see the highest pass and say good bye. After the 2nd pass, it’s another hour downhill to reach the magnificent Inca site, Sayacmarca (inaccessible village). We’ll stop here for a rest and have a quick explorations of the site and then watch the sunset over the Andes mountain range. It’s then just another 20 minutes until we stop for the night at our second campsite named Chaquicocha (Dry Lake, 3600 meters).

4th Day: Total distance: 16 km / 94 miles we will cross two higest passes.
Starting Elevation – Ayapata 3300 m = 10826 ft.
First highest pass – warmy mañusca /dead woman pass 4215 m = 13828 ft.
Lowest Elevation – lunch spot Pacaymayo 3604 meters / 11,821 feet
Second highest pass – Runkuracay Pass 3950 m = 12959 ft.
Campsite Elevation – Chaquikcocha 3600 m. = 11811 ft.

The Area: middle of the Andes.

Day 5Chaquikocha – Wiñayhuayna.

Well after survived two highest passes, we can catch our brief better now and start with a good breakfast and get ready for one of most beautiful days, in the whole Inca trail or could be in your life too. We’ll hike for 2 hours along the Inca Trail in the section known as Inca flat (gradual inclines) and begin to enter into the peak of the jungle, which is also known as the short cloud forest of Andes. As we walk we will have the chance to enjoy the incredible landscapes of the Andes mountain range one of the highest Glacier Peak named salkantay. Towards the end of the Inca flat, we begin to make our way up to the last peak at Phuyupatamarka (3600 meters) from here we get great views for first time of Machu Picchu mountain and waynapicchu mountain. From Phuyupatamarka it´s a 3 hour walks down using an Inca steps to our last campsite called Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young). There another Inca city here named Wiñay Wayna too, could be one of the most spectacular Inca site on the trail after Machu Picchu and the most popular campsite because is close to Machu Picchu.

This night is one of the most exciting ones, just one more night and we’ll be in Machu Picchu, what we have be dreaming since beginning, at the same time a kind of sad too because is time to say good bye to our team porters and our chef because they are not allow to enter together with us to Machu Picchu, so we must enjoy our last feast with all our incredible team. It’s an Inca Trail tradition to organize a ceremony in the evening to introduce the team to the visitors once again and to thank them for the great job done (if you wish to provide tips for them then you can do now). Please remember go to bed at a reasonable time in order to get up in the early hours of the morning to get to Machu Picchu at the crack of dawn.

5th Day: Total distance:2 miles/10 km (5 hours)
Starting Elevation – Chaquikcocha 3600 m. = 11811 ft.
Campsite Elevation – Wiñayhuayna 2666 m = 8746 ft.
Considered: Hiking easy day relaxing.
The Area: beginning of tropical forest.
Weather: warm humid into the valleys.
Today we cross two highest mountains.

Day 6Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco.

We’ll start early with simple breakfast and so much emotions per one day. We’ll wave goodbye to our porters and chef and then wait at the last checkpoint of Inca trail because is open the gates only since 5:30 am, well now all ahead to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). From here we’ll have spectacular views of the mountains and what we have be waiting Machu Picchu all its glory now. We’ll reach the Sun Gate around 6:30 am and then it’s just another hour walk down a stairway to reach the lost city of the Incas. As soon as we get city we must take our classical picture with all team together we done!!, and then we reach the final checkpoint and if we have more than 20 liters’ daypack we have to leave at the lockers and eat something more or just use the restroom, because and then we´ll have about 2 hour guided tour in Machu Picchu. After the tour you’ll have a free time to explore by yourself again Machu Picchu and take all the pictures you dream. After you can walk down or take a bus to Aguas Calientes city, is here where you have to take train to return to ollantaytambo train stations for about two more hours and then bus transportations to Cusco and drop you off in your hotel.

If you like there are optional hikes such as Huayna Picchu Mountain which takes 45 minutes or 1 hour to reach the top or Machu Picchu Mountain which takes 1:20 minutes or 1:30 to get the summit. From both sites you can enjoy breathtaking landscapes of Machu Picchu, if you are interesting please book in advance together with our Inca trail permits for extra 70 USD.

Considered: The most exciting and magical day (Early wake up could be 3.30 am)
Area: High and cloud tropical short forest.
Weather: Hot and very humid (usually cloudy in the mornings).
