Cusco – Machu Picchu – Tipon – Maras & Moray

Arrival to the city of Cusco. Reception and transportation to the hotel, with “mate de coca” as a welcome. The first morning is free to acclimatize to the high altitude of 3,350m.s.n.m. aprox.

Between 1:20 and 1:45 in the afternoon, we will start the pick-up from the hotels and begin the visit of the city, and also the nearby ruins. This tour will show the amazing colonial city constructed on top of Incas bases. We will visit the CATHEDRAL, with its Renacentist structure and good pictures of the “Escuela Cusqueña.” The tour will also include a visit to KORICANCHA or Templo del Sol.

We will continue the visit to the four nearby ruins of Cusco, which are SACSAYHUAMAN (great fortress located at 5 km from the city) QENQO( Center of adoration to the Puma God, where have been made human sacrifices) PUCA-PUCARA (Red Fortress) and TAMBOMACHAY( Temple Of The Water) Return to the hotel. Accommodation in hotels.

Our excursion will start with the pick-up from the hotels at 8:30 am in our prívate bus to start the visit of the places such as:

MARAS

Is a town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, 40 kilometers north of Cusco, The town is well known for its nearby salt evaporation ponds, in use since Inca times. The salt-evaporation ponds are four kilometers north of the town, down a canyon that descends to the Rio Vilcanota and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The Maras area is accessible by a paved road, which leads from the main road leading through the Sacred Valley between Cusco and the surrounding towns. Tourist sites in the area include the colonial church, the local salt evaporation ponds, and the surrounding scenery.

MORAY:

Located at the southwest of Maras by 7 km, Maras is a unique grouping of archaeological constructions. It has gigantic natural depressions and holes in the surface of the land that were used to build agricultural terraces or platforms with irrigation channels. It is the prototype of the greenhouse, which is really an important construction for agriculture and farming.

8:30 Hrs. TOUR TO THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS, which includes transport to village of Pisac, a picturesque colonial mestizo village. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays craft fairs are held in the main square. Also, Sunday Mass is celebrated in Quechua every week there. We will visit places such as: Ccoya, Lamay, Calca and Urubamba. Lunch Buffet provided. In the afternoon, there will be a guided tour of Ollantaytambo village, where the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo is located. Ollantaytambo has gigantic agricultural, religious and military administrative power in the time of Tawantinsuyu.

Transfer to train Ollantaytambo train station.

19:00 hrs. Train departure to Machu Picchu town.

At the coordinated time, transfer to Puente Ruinas and board the bus up to the citadel of Machu Picchu. We will enjoy guided tours of the citadel’s main buildings, including: El Mirador, Temple of the Three Windows, the Intihuatana, Machu Picchu main square,etc.

At the end of our journey we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes where we will have lunch in a local restaurant. Train departure in the afternoon to Cusco.

09:00 AM VALLE SUR ( TIPÓN – PIKILLACTA –ANDAHUAYLILLAS )

This tour is well-known for the beauty of its natural landscapes, Inca architecture in Tipon, and pre-Inca architecture in Pikillacta. We will visit Andahuaylillas with its beautiful chapel, known as the Sistine Chapel of the Americas. This tour will bring you the choice to taste delicious gastronomy in Saylla, Huasao.
