The Pozo del Cielo hotel offers guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the native communities of the Colca Valley, where the customs and traditions of the Andes are preserved almost entirely. The hotel was constructed with the sole purpose of honoring this ancient Andean culture while respecting the natural and socio-cultural environment.
Guests are invited to explore the lifestyles and beliefs of an ancient civilization that has withstood the test of time and Western influences.
The Pozo del Cielo hotel was established in 2001 in the Chivay district, within the Caylloma province, at the heart of the Colca Valley. Initially, the hotel had 20 rooms, divided into single, double, and matrimonial options; it has since expanded to 36 rooms, now categorized as standard, superior, and suites.
The hotel’s rustic design, featuring sloping roofs and a charmingly irregular layout, is inspired by its location. It is constructed from local stone with traditional adobe walls painted in earthy ochre tones. Additionally, the hotel includes an inviting dining hall with a log-burning stove.
The hotel offers hot water, heating, and carpeting, along with a restaurant serving traditional dishes. There is also a bar offering both classic and exotic cocktails. Guests can enjoy panoramic views and a mystical tour that includes visits to communities inhabited by spiritual healers and people who practice ancient customs.
