Antigua Casona San Blas is a colonial house built between 1750 and 1800, located in the historic and charming neighborhood of San Blas, known for its artisan heritage. The area has preserved its colonial architecture in all its houses. In 2016, a restoration project was undertaken by private investors and the Peruvian Ministry of Culture, preserving the house’s beautiful stone portal and rebuilding its finely decorated wooden balcony, colonial doors, cobbled courtyard, and other features. The result is a stunning Cusco colonial mansion that retains its period charm and decorations.
The hotel’s restaurant, “Piedra y Sal,” offers a varied breakfast each morning for guests of Antigua Casona. Guests can enjoy French toast with a hint of orange, alongside coffee and dairy products. The restaurant also offers special moonlit dinners, featuring contemporary takes on traditional Peruvian dishes like Aji de Gallina al Batán. Additionally, the select menu includes unique flavors and a variety of dishes, complemented by high-quality cocktails.
The spa is another highlight of the hotel, offering holistic experiences such as steam baths, Jacuzzi sessions, salt scrubs from a local quarry, therapeutic massages, and Spanish-style showers. The spa also features a specialized hyperbaric chamber for guests who wish to receive high-quality oxygen directly into their bodies, helping them acclimate better to the altitude.
Rooms:
The hotel features 26 rooms, each decorated with beautifully hand-carved furniture. Allergen-free pillows and king-size beds ensure restful sleep after a day of exploring the imperial city.
